ammonites
Seceda Section, 7.5 m (Triassic of Italy)

Where: Trentino, Italy (46.6° N, 11.7° E: paleocoordinates 8.2° N, 22.1° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Buchenstein Formation, Ladinian (242.0 - 235.0 Ma)

• Lower Plattenkalk. Late Reitzi or Secedensis Zone. Guide event for Anisian-Ladinian boundary is undecided - proposals include the base of the Curionii Zone, base of Avisianum Subzone (Reitzi Zone), and base of Reitzi Zone. These collections use the base of the Reitzi Zone as the A-L boundary.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: basinal (); dolomitic, black, calcareous lime mudstone

• Evenly bedded black calcareous to dolomitic mudstones. Often strongly siliceous, laminated, and rich in organic matter. Volcaniclastic detritus and argillaceous material is intercalated.

Size class: macrofossils

Collection methods: surface (in situ),
