Sample 7286, Rogers Ridge, Georgina Basin, Thorntonia Area (Cambrian of Australia)

Where: Australia (21.8° S, 140.0° E: paleocoordinates 25.7° N, 168.6° W)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Beetle Creek Formation, Templetonian (513.0 - 507.0 Ma)

• 'Siltstone Member'(up to 60 m thick); hardground unit; Xystridura templetonensis zone

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: offshore shelf; lithified, hardground, phosphatic lime mudstone and lithified, intraclastic, peloidal, black packstone

• more or less hypersaline, restricted marine shelf depositional environment of dicrete sub-basins wherein chemical sedimentation was influenced by bathymery (Russel and Trueman, 1971)or normal marine shelf deposition, although in dysaerobic waters (Fleming, 1971)
• `hardground unit' of cyclically interbedded phosphatic mudstone, phosphatic hardgrounds and bioclast pack- to grainstone. Coarser grains include phosphatic and calcitic peloids, intraclasts and bioclasts (maily echinoderm, lingulate brachiopod and chancelloriid fragments)

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: replaced with phosphate

Collection methods: bulk,

• All material is housed in the Australian Geological Survey Organisation (AGSO) or in the Institut für Paläontologie, Universität Bonn (IPB)
