Also known as N78/f511; GS6860
Where: New Zealand (38.1° S, 177.2° E: paleocoordinates 80.8° S, 179.2° E)
• coordinate based on unpublished field data
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Aptian (125.5 - 112.0 Ma)
• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From unnamed lithostratigraphic unit, which unconformably overlies the Torlesse Supergroup. AGE: Korangan-Urutawan, on the basis of macrofossil biostratigraphy. Here placed in Korangan = Aptian based on its stratigraphic position. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From 80-100 m above base of formation.
• bed-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: coastal; poorly lithified, medium-grained, coarse sandstone
Size class: macrofossils
Preservation: cast, mold/impression
Collected by Grindley in 1957; reposited in the IGNS
Collection methods: surface (in situ),
• COLLECTOR: G.W. Grindley, 1957. REPOSITORY: GSNZ (now GNS Science, Lower Hutt, New Zealand).
