• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From Member 3 of the Chapel Island Fm, which overlies the Renconte Fm, and is overlain by the Random Fm. AGE: Unclear from Landing et al. (1989), who refers to this as post-Nemakit-Daldynian and pre-Tommotian; Watsonella crosbyi zone; here placed in Tommotian, until clearer data are available. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From the Watsonella crosbyi zone, near the middle of the regional section, at 43.0 m, in upper part of Member 3.

Environment/lithology: peritidal; lithified, nodular, phosphatic, red mudstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Peritidal.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Phosphatic nodules in red/purple mudstone. LITHIFICATION: Lithified, on the basis of facies description and preparation techniques.
