• "Amsterdam limestone" (Flower, 1952 p. 30); The Amsterdam ls. is referred either to the lower part of the Trenton or to the upper part of the Black River Gp. (see fig. 2 in Hewitt & Hall (eds.) 1965, Guide Book and Filed Trips, 37th Annual Meeting of the New York State Geological Association). Both groups are said to be Upper Ordovician in age by Landing & Westrop (2006, J. Paleont. 80(5)) whereas the Amsterdam ls. is said to be Middle Ordovician in the GEOLEX database of the USGS (http://ngmdb.usgs.gov/Geolex/NewUnits/unit_98.html).
