Sister taxa: Dimorphodon banthensis, Dimorphodon macronyx

Type specimen: IGM 3494, a partial skeleton (articulated partial skeleton including posterior part of skull, four cervical vertebrae, scapulocoracoids, left humerus, partial right wing, and partial right l). Its type locality is Huizachal Canyon, which is in a Pliensbachian floodplain siltstone in the La Boca Formation of Mexico.
