Sister taxa: Gobiconodon hoburensis, Gobiconodon hopsoni, Gobiconodon luoianus, Gobiconodon ostromi, Gobiconodon zofiae

Type specimen: PIN No. 3101/09, a mandible (partial right mandible). Its type locality is Khovboor, which is in an Aptian/Albian terrestrial sandstone in the Dzunbain Formation of Mongolia.
