Type specimens:

  • Brachychampsa montana: AMNH-DP 5032, a partial skull (anterior two-thirds of the skull with fragments of the posterior portion). Its type locality is Southeast of Lismas, which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in the Hell Creek Formation of Montana.
  • Brachychampsa sealeyi: NMMNH P-25050, a partial skull (partial skull and associated partial right mandible, partial ramus of the left mandible, and a nearly complete osteoderm).
