Type specimens:
- Glyptops plicatulus: AMNH 6099, a partial shell (The principal parts present are one complete costal, apparently the third of the left side (plate 5, fig. i), the proximal end of what is regarded as the fifth ).
- Glyptops ornatus: YPM 1784, a skull (a laterally compressed skull without lower jaws). Its type locality is Quarry 9, Como Bluff (YPM), which is in a Kimmeridgian/Tithonian fluvial-lacustrine mudstone/sandstone in the Morrison Formation of Wyoming.
- Glyptops utahensis: CM 3412, a shell (a complete shell). Its type locality is Dinosaur National Monument Quarry (CM), which is in a Kimmeridgian/Tithonian coarse channel fill sandstone in the Morrison Formation of Utah.
