Sister taxon: Caudipteryx dongi
Type specimen: NGMC 97-4-A, a skeleton (skeleton with feathers). Its type locality is Sihetun, Yixian Member 3 (general), which is in a Barremian/Aptian lacustrine siltstone in the Yixian Formation of China.
Ecology: ground dwelling omnivore
