Australodocus was named by Remes (2007).
It was assigned to Diplodocinae by Remes (2007) and Ruiz-Omeņaca et al. (2008); to Titanosauriformes by Whitlock (2011), Whitlock (2011) and D'Emic (2012); to Neosauropoda by Ibiricu et al. (2012); and to Titanosauria by Mannion et al. (2013).
