Eudimorphodon was named by Zambelli (1973). It is the type genus of Eudimorphodontidae.
It was assigned to Pterosauria by Sereno (1991); to Campylognathoididae by Unwin (2003); to Eudimorphodontidae by Carroll (1988), Jenkins et al. (2001) and Wellnhofer (2003); and to Lonchognatha by Andres et al. (2010).
