Taxonomy
Gallolestes was named by Lillegraven (1976). Its type is Gallolestes pachymandibularis.
It was assigned to Eutheria by Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (1979); to Leptictida by Lillegraven (1976) and McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Zhelestidae by Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004), Wible et al. (2007), Wible et al. (2009) and Archibald and Averianov (2012).
