Synonyms
  • Amphicyon angustidens was named by Marsh (1871) [type is from "Miocene Shale, at Scott's Bluff, on the North Platte River"]. Its type specimen is YPM 11762, a mandible (fragment of left ramus), and it is a 3D body fossil.

    It was recombined as Cynodictis angustidens by Thorpe (1922) and Thorpe (1922); it was recombined as Pseudocynodictis angustidens by Hough (1948); it was recombined as Hesperocyon angustidens by Green (1952) and Macdonald (1970); it was considered a nomen vanum by Wang (1994).
