Litomylus was named by Simpson (1935). It is not extant. Its type is Litomylus dissentaneus.
It was assigned to Tricuspiodontinae by Scott et al. (2002); to Hyopsodontidae by Simpson (1935), Carroll (1988), Archibald (1998) and Williamson and Weil (2011); and to Apheliscidae by Zack et al. (2005) and Hooker and Russell (2012).
