Taxonomy
Balaenoptera taiwanica was named by Huang (1966) [Specimen is in the Palaeontological Laboratory, Geological Department, Chinese Petroleum Corporation, Miaoli, Taiwan]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Chutung Locality, which is in a Zanclean marine mudstone/sandstone in the Cholan Formation of Taiwan.
