Taxonomy
Balaenoptera edeni was named by Anderson (1879). It is extant. Its type locality is Thaybyoo Choung, which is in a Holocene coastal horizon in Myanmar.
It was recombined as Rorqualus edeni by Hassanin et al. (2012).
