Environment/lithology: marine; lithified, pyritic, gray shale and lithified, gray, argillaceous mudstone
• "No marked lithological change...between the turriculatus Zone and the ...crispus Zone...The shales in the cripus Zone are grey to dark grey, frequently interbedded with thin bands of light grey, non-graptolitiferous, argillaceous mudstone. In the middlepart of the zone graptolites preserved in full relief infilled with pyrite are frequent."
