When: Changhsingian (254.0 - 252.3 Ma)

• A 4-foot-thick Permian breccia overlies, unconformably, Carboniferous Coal measure Sandstone. This is overlain by alternating sandstones and shales of the Lower Permian Marl, containing ill-preserved plant remains. The top of the cutting exposes the Lower Magnesium Limestone, which here is arenaceous and gritty, obsuring a clear demarcation between this and the lower Permian marl.
