ammonites
Acaste podolica Comm., Podolia (Silurian to of Ukraine)

Where: Ukraine (48.6° N, 26.5° E: paleocoordinates 18.5° S, 7.4° E)

• coordinate based on political unit

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Ludlow to Ludlow (422.9 - 416.0 Ma)

• Isakovtsy "subsuite" of Malinovtsy "series" and Varnitsa "suite" of the Ruksing "series" (Skalian "superhorizon"). See fig. 38.1 for correlation chart.

Environment/lithology: marine; dolomitic limestone and shelly/skeletal, argillaceous limestone

• "...argillaceous Lst [interpreted as ] deposited on a closed shelf. Trilobites suggest a reasonable level of turbulence. Fossils are rare. Brachiopods disarticulated. The rocks are detrital clastics. This is a BA 2 community, i.e. shallow water."
• "Occurs in massive, fine-grained Lst (commonly dolomitized in the Isakovtsy subsuite) and in platy, argillaceous, organodetrital limestone."

Collection methods: Counts are given for trilobites.
