ammonites
Vosmiverstum laqueatiformis Community, Central Urals (Silurian of Russian Federation)

Where: Russian Federation (59.2° N, 60.5° E: paleocoordinates 0.1° N, 10.1° E)

• coordinate based on political unit

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Wenlock (428.2 - 422.9 Ma)

• Early and Middle Wenlockian, Pavdinsk Regional Stage

Environment/lithology: marine; gray limestone

• Restriction of the unit to comparatively clean, bedded carbonates is consistent with presence of Ivanova's attached...type of brachiopod commonly found on rough water, level bottoms. Conclusion supported by dominance of disarticulated shells.
• "Occurs in gray, microcrystalline, medium-bedded limestone belonging to an unusual, evidently deeper water facies of the Pavdinsk Regional Stage, whose limestones are mainly dark gray, or black, thin-bedded and organogenic."
