Protathyrisina-Striispirifer Comm., Kuanti Fm., Loc. ADH 29, Qujing Co., Yunnan (Silurian of China)

Also known as Protathyrisina uniplicata-Striispirifer Community

Where: Yunnan, China (25.5° N, 103.7° E: paleocoordinates 8.0° N, 130.8° E)

• coordinate based on political unit

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Kuanti Formation, Ludlow (422.9 - 418.7 Ma)

• formation-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; calcareous mudstone

• "The shells occur in calcareous mudstone as disarticulated individuals in thin shell beds. the occurrence of abundant Striispirifer is consistent with a BA 3 assignment, but restrictive factor(s) responsible for low diversity are uncertain. However, the disarticulated condition of the valves indicates a more turbulent environemtn than the Atrypoidea-Protathyrisina uniplicata-Striispirifer Community [PBDB coll. 25742] with which it is interbedded."
• "calcareous mudstone"
