Environment/lithology: shale

• The lavas of the Harbour section are underlain by a thin sedimentary sequence which outcrops at the Railway Cutting section. The mudstones within this sequence yielded some well preserved plant compressions, e.g. Lepidodendron sp. These sediments are overlain by a thick lava flow (20 m) which is faulted out by an east-west trending fault.
