ammonites
Morton-Thiokol Drillhole, Jackson Cty (674-760 m) - Campbell and Otvos (1992) (Miocene of the United States)

Also known as Locality 3 (674-760 m)

Where: Mississippi (30.5° N, 88.5° W: paleocoordinates 30.9° N, 85.7° W)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Pensacola Formation, Middle Miocene (16.0 - 11.6 Ma)

• Unclear whether this is from Pensacola Formation (generally middle to late Miocene) or ov erlying Graham Ferry Formation (ealry Pliocene). Rangia present in thick succession of beds from 275-760. The top of this sequence is likely to be late Miocene, while the base is likely to be middle Miocene and hence comments on occurrences of Rangia within this sequence are treated as distinct collections to maintain most precised age assignment.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: offshore; siliciclastic sediments

• Outer shelf conditions prevailed between 684 and 760 m.
• No lithologic data reported. "coarse clastics"

Size classes: macrofossils, microfossils

Preservation: original aragonite

Collection methods: Unknown repository
