When: Trefawr Formation, Rhuddanian to Rhuddanian (443.7 - 436.0 Ma)

• Unless a conodont zone was explicitly stated, a Late Rhudd - Late Aeron age was entered because of the statement these beds are all "pre-sedgwickii Zone." Localities are referred to the measured transects f2, h1, i2, i3, j2, and l, of Cocks et al. 1984, p178, fig.3)

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; lithified mudstone and sandstone

Collection methods: bulk,

• "... a single collection (from bulk material) [was made] from each locality, identifying and recording all fossils encountered during break up of the rock... [sacrificing commoner taxa in continued searching, or preserving rarer specimens and not breaking the rock further]...figures obtained for relative frequencies of the taxa are prob accurate...estimates of volumetric abundance...are prob too low." Sample: 4.5 kg.
