Acrolepidae was named by Aldinger (1937).

It was assigned to Palaeonisciformes by Delsate et al. (2002); and to Actinopterygii by López-Arbarello et al. (2010).

Challaia striata was named by Rusconi (1946).

It was considered a nomen dubium by López-Arbarello et al. (2010).
Challaia multidentata was named by Rusconi (1949). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is North of the Cerro Bayo, Departamento de Las Heras, Mendoza Province, which is in a Ladinian/Carnian terrestrial siliciclastic in the Cerro de Las Cabras Formation of Argentina.

It was considered a nomen dubium by López-Arbarello et al. (2010).
Challaia cacheutensis was named by Rusconi (1950).

It was considered a nomen dubium by López-Arbarello et al. (2010).
