Taxonomy
Simia syndactyla was named by Raffles (1822) [also said to be 1821]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Hylobates syndactyla by Owen (1853); it was recombined as Siamanga syndactyla by Pohl (1911); it was recombined as Hylobates syndactylus by Kloss (1929), Chasen (1940), Fooden (1969) and Ruff (2003); it was recombined as Symphalangus syndactylus by Stone and Rehn (1902), Miller (1942) and Thinh et al. (2010).
