Taxonomy
Pseudaelurus was named by Gervais (1850) [type European Felis quadridentata Blainville 1843 (= Pseudaelurus quadridentatus): see Rothwell 2003]. It is not extant.
It was assigned to Felinae by Martin (1998) and Sach and Heizmann (2001); and to Felidae by Gervais (1848), Carroll (1988), Hunt (1998) and Rothwell (2004).
