Hydrurga leptonyx

Taxonomy
Phoca leptonyx was named by Blainville (1820). It is extant. It is the type species of Hydrurga.

It was recombined as Stenorhynchus leptonyx by Gray (1850), Gill (1866), Gray (1866), Gray (1871) and Gray (1873); it was recombined as Ogmorhinus (Ogmorhinus) leptonyx by Trouessart (1898) and Trouessart (1904); it was recombined as Ogmorhinus leptonyx by Turner (1912); it was recombined as Hydrurga leptonyx by Kellogg (1922), Scheffer and Rice (1963), Koretsky (2001) and Demere et al. (2003).
