Taxonomy
Eupodophis was named by Rage and Escuillié (2001). It is not extant. Its type is Podophis descouensi. It was considered monophyletic by Wilson et al. (2010).
It was assigned to Ophidia by Rage and Escuillié (2003); to Serpentes by Rieppel and Head (2004); to Macrostomata by Apestiguía and Zaher (2006); to Pachyophiidae by Wilson et al. (2010); and to Alethinophidia by Longrich et al. (2012).
