It was assigned to Actinopterygii by Andrews (1906); to Otocephala by Cavin (1999); to Teleostei by Grande and De Pinna (1998), Grande and Grande (1999) and Murray (2003); to Teleostei by Nelson (2006); to Ostarioclupeomorpha by Long (2011); and to Otomorpha by Betancur-R et al. (2013).
