Plateosaurus longiceps

Taxonomy
Plateosaurus longiceps was named by Jaekel (1913) [syntype series]. Its type specimen is HMN MB.R.1937 (= XXIV), I, XXV, a skeleton, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Baerecke-Limpricht clay pit, Halberstadt (bed 18), which is in a Rhaetian floodplain claystone/sandstone in the Trossingen Formation of Germany.

It was synonymized subjectively with Plateosaurus quenstedti by Huene (1932) and Steel (1970); it was synonymized subjectively with Plateosaurus engelhardti by Galton (1984).
