Geography
Country: China
State: Yunnan
Coordinate: 23° 26' N, 101° 41' E
Coordinate basis: stated in text
Environment
Habitat: tropical/subtropical moist broadleaf forest
Altered habitat: plantation
Substrate: ground surface
Disturbance: agriculture,selective logging
MAT: 21.8
MAP: 1253.0
Habitat comments: "evergreen broad-leaved forests... the overstorey species were planted over extensively cleared land, and the dominant species did not necessarily represent what previously occurred naturally. Most trees planted in Plantation were economically important, particularly for lac-scale farming... a monoculture"
Methods
Life forms: ants
Sampling methods: line transect, sweep nets, pitfall traps
Sample size: 1347 individuals
Years: 2011
Days: 5
Nets or traps: 40
Net or trap nights: 200
Sampling comments: four plots; "Sampling was conducted during sunny and warm weather... in August 2011... We established one 90 m transect in each plot to sample both epigeic and arboreal ants. Epigeic ants were sampled using 10 pitfall traps spaced 10 m apart along the transect... Traps were operated for 5 days... Arboreal ants were sampled by sweep netting and foliage shaking. Ten sweep net samples were collected along each transect"
