the identification of Alicornops simorrense and assignment of the fauna to MN5 were the subject of an exchange between Cerdeño (1999) and Mazo (1999), the latter of whom defended both interpretations

Taphonomic context: fluvial deposit

Habitat comments: the fossils are from two stratigraphic levels, the lower including a "nivel de limosos arcillosos" and the upper one of "areniscas limosas"
