Geography comments: 15 km south of Rouen in the interior of the meander of Elbeuf, on its right bank (coordinate based on map of Bahain et al. 2019)
thought by Descombes (1983) to be late Mindel in age, but MIS 7 based on ESR and other dating methods including AAR, TL, and IRSL (Bahain et al. 2019, Quaternary International)
the best dates are flagged as 200 ka (ESR on shell), 198 ± 26 ka (TL), and 196 ± 23 ka (IRSL)

Habitat comments: the sediments are interglacial and estuarine based on study of the malacological fauna
level D1 is from "chenaux sableux" (sandy channels) according to Descombes (1983) and "interbedded sands and silty clay" according to Bahain et al. (2019)
the material is well-preserved, with root traces and many anatomically connected skeletal elements
there is "a rich archaeological Middle Paleolithic lithic assemblage" (Bahain et al. 2019)

there is also a single hyaena coprolite
"three human arm bones attributed to an individual of the Neanderthal lineage" were collected after the original publication (Bahain et al. 2019)
