Geography comments: coordinate is an arbitrary point close within the landfill
"Prothero et al. (1996) placed bed 30A within Chron 17r" which is supported by correlation to the Vieja area in West Texas, where the Buckshot Ignimbrite in equivalent strata has been dated to 38.02 Ma (Kelly et al. 2012) (age estimates based on Ogg 2020)
from the "middle member of the Sespe Formation... within bed 30A"
the highest of five superposed faunas in the Simi Valley section

Environment
Lithology: claystone
Taphonomic context: overbank deposit
Habitat comments: according to (Kelly et al. 1991), the lithology is "interbedded structureless sandstone and claystone beds representing a meandering-river floodbasin facies" and the fossils are from one of the "red to green claystone" horizons (see Fig. 2)
Methods
Life forms: primates,rodents,other small mammals
Sampling methods: screenwash
Sample size: 298 specimens
Museum: LACM
Sampling comments: "recently" recovered "by wet screen sieving of bulk matrix during a paleontologic mitigation program"
the original collections from this locality were described by Kelly and co-authors in numerous earlier publications
the inventory is a composite of Kelly (2009, Heliscomys), Kelly 2010a (other small mammals), and Kelly 2010b (other rodents)
