Geography
Country: Turkey

Coordinate: 40° 14' N, 32° 39' E
Coordinate basis: based on nearby landmark

Formation: Sinap

Time interval: Late Miocene

Zone: MN9

Geography comments: the field area is 60 km northwest of Ankara and the site is shown as about 1.5 km north of the village of Yassiören, a name also used for the overall fauna in earlier literature (coordinate based on Yassiören)
from the "early Vallesian (MN 9)" Middle Member of the Sinap Formation
the member spans "only two polarity zones, normal and then reverse" and the fauna is interpreted as coming from a reversed zone somewhere between 11.5 Ma (the base of the Vallesian) and 10.3 Ma (the base of "Chron 11 ou Anomalie 5")
this is hard to interpret because chron C5 starts at 12.049 Ma and the lengthy C5n.2n starts at 11.056 Ma in the time scale of Ogg (2020), so the MN zone assignment is sufficient age control

Environment
Lithology: marl

Taphonomic context: fluvial deposit

Habitat comments: the Middle Member consists of "marnes plus ou moins sableuses et peu indurées" including a "nombreuses lentilles conglomératiques"

Methods
Life forms: rodents,other small mammals

Sample size: 30 specimens

Years: 1972

Sampling comments: the micromammals were collected by the author in 1972 from a point locality using unstated methods
