Geography comments: Site 6B36 is one of nine Paleolithic sites in the Wadi Halfa region of Nubia, on "the east bank of the Nile adjacent to the second cataract (at the southern end of Lake Nasser, just south of the border between Egypt and Sudan)".
"The site is located 35 m above and c. 2.5 km west of the Nile".
"The site yielded a Qadan lithic industry, dating it to ∼17.5–16.5 ka BP".

Habitat comments: "6B36 is a large site containing 36–39 human interments in an area of c. 1100 m2, associated with numerous lithics and faunal items. “Fire pits” and groundstone items were also present".
"The Wadi Halfa sites are usually composed of one or more thin occupation horizons that appear to be the primary depositional context; they are also characterized by deflated areas and surface scatters of artifacts and bones".

Sampling comments: "The excavated sites at Wadi Halfa (including 6B36) were at least partially screened using an eighth inch mesh, or excavated with trowels and picks, although it is unclear what portion of the sediments had actually been screened".
"The excavations were conducted in 1 or 2 m2 grids, in accordance with natural and cultural stratigraphy". For 6B36 specifically, "about 50 m2 were excavated out of an area of at least 300 × 450 m".
