Sampling comments: one "1,000-m transect" in each of three stands, each with "reference points" spaced 200 m apart and with 100 "peanut butter, rolled oats, and raisins" baited snap traps in total ("1 museum special and 1 rat trap" per point) plus 10 pitfall traps at first but in the third of three sampling periods 12; snap traps were set for five consecutive days and pitfall traps for 7 during each period, so total traps = 3 x 100 x 5 x 3 + 3 x 10 x 7 x 2 + 3 x 12 x 7 = 5172
