Habitat comments: "tropical with dry summers... 'As' category in Köppen’s classification... The dry season starts in May with an average rainfall of 6 mm and the four following months typically receive less than 10 mm of rain. The rainy season starts in October and peaks between December and January, with monthly precipitation around 200 mm... a pasture field used for cattle grazing for over 20 years that was abandoned in the year 2000, 13 years before the study. This successional stage was dominated by a single stratum of young trees"

Sampling comments: "Sampling was carried out at the end of the rainy season of 2013 (April)... we established three plots within each successional stage, with the same sampling effort for all plots and periods. Distances between plots within the same stage varied from 0.5 to 1.5 km... Mosquitoes were collected using Shannon traps and by active collection. LED lamps were set up inside the Shannon traps, and all attracted insects were captured using automatic aspirators... we used automatic aspirators to collect mosquitoes that were attracted by researchers"
