The reserve has premontane wet forests and tropical moist forests" and specifically a "along a trail with the same name that runs from the research station to the Camp Site, was situated in an old-growth, broadleaf forest close to a river, which opened towards a recovering livestock pasture with tall grasses, frequented by horses; middle-aged secondary succession"
