Reference: K. D. Rose. 1981. The Clarkforkian land-mammal age and mammalian faunal composition across the Paleocene-Eocene boundary. University of Michigan Papers on Paleontology 26:1-197 [ER 4102]
Geography
Country: United States

State: Wyoming

County: Park

Coordinate: 44.85° N, -109.10° W
Coordinate basis: stated in text

Formation: Willwood

Time interval: Late Palaeocene

Zone: Clarkforkian

Geography comments: "SE 1/4, S 1, T 56 N, R 102 W, and SW 1/4, S 6, T 56 N, R 101 W (Sec. 4)"
assigned to the Plesiadapis cookei zone of the Clarkforkian
the meter level is said to be 1280 m by Gunnell and Gingerich (1991) and appears to be 1260 m in Fig. 3 of Krause (1986)

Environment
Lithology: mudstone

Habitat comments: "Gray mudstone at the base of this locality contains a pocket that, through quarrying and screen-washing, has yielded the richest Clarkforkian collection from a single site in the Clark's Fork Basin" but several "larger specimens" have "been excavated from drab mudstones slightly above the level of the quarry"

Methods
Life forms: carnivores, primates, rodents, ungulates, other large mammals, other small mammals

Sampling methods: quarry,screenwash

Sample size: 222 specimens

Years: 1977

Museum: UMMP

Sampling comments: "discovered in 1977 by B. Holly Smith"
"we found surface concentrations of small vertebrates, screenwashing was performed" and was "highly successful" and the site was quarried "extensively": "About 30 sacks (approximately one ton) of matrix have been washed"
